Meanwhile, Azael, aware of his impending doom, devised a malevolent plan.
The demon king disguised himself as 'Feran', a brave warrior and traveled with Sirus as a fellow companion, using his powers to secretly hinder their journey. Their camaraderie was strange; Sirus found himself admiring Feran's strength and courage, unaware he was the Demon King in disguise. However, his innocence and unwavering faith revealed cracks in Azael’s cold-heart. The demon king found himself doubting his evil intentions, affected by Sirus's goodness. They faced many trials together, and during a battle against monstrous shadow beasts, Feran was mortally wounded. Sirus, not knowing his companion's true identity, rushed to save him.
"Live, Feran. This world needs heroes like you," Sirus implored, tears streaming down his face. In this moment, Azael's disguise faded, revealing his true form. Shocked Sirus recoiled, but the sight of the Demon King helpless and at his mercy gave him pause. This wasn't the ruthless creature from the stories; this was a fallen king, corrupted by his own power, but still capable of change. "Finish it, Sirus," Azael rasped, regret flashing through his fiery eyes. But Sirus saw Azael's potential for redemption. "No," he said firmly, "This world needs not only heroes but also merciful kings." Sirus used the Sword of Light not to slay the Demon King but to cleanse him from the darkness corrupting his soul.
Azael was transformed, the demon king no more. He was overwhelmed by his new senses of empathy and compassion, and weepingly vowed to become a king the realm deserved.
